A Season of Reflection, Faith, and Love for Future Generations

As summer comes to a close and families settle back into their routines, September offers a natural opportunity to pause and reflect on what matters most. Many people use this season to organize important documents, review financial plans, and prepare for the months ahead. It is also an ideal time to consider a conversation that is often postponed: advance planning for funeral, cemetery, cremation, and memorial arrangements.

While no one enjoys thinking about end-of-life decisions, planning ahead is one of the most thoughtful and loving gifts we can give to those we cherish. Advance planning allows individuals and families to make informed decisions calmly and thoughtfully, rather than during grief and emotional stress.

An Act of Love for Your Family

Many families are surprised to learn how much relief advance planning can provide. When arrangements have already been made, loved ones are spared the burden of making difficult decisions while coping with loss. Instead of uncertainty and guesswork, family members can focus on supporting one another, celebrating a well-lived life, and finding comfort in faith and prayer.

Advance planning also provides an opportunity to communicate personal wishes clearly. Whether selecting burial, cremation, memorialization options, or funeral preferences, planning ensures that your choices are known and respected.

          A Catholic Perspective on Preparation

As Catholics, we understand that death is not the end of life, but the passage to eternal life through Christ. Our faith teaches us to prepare spiritually and practically for that day, trusting in God's promise of the Resurrection.

Planning ahead reflects the Christian virtues of prudence, responsibility, and care for others. It is a meaningful way to ensure that our families are supported and that our final arrangements reflect our faith and values.

At Catholic Cemeteries & Mortuaries, we are honored to accompany families through every stage of life's journey. Our ministry is rooted in the belief that preparing for the future can be an important expression of faith, love, and stewardship.

Looking Ahead to the Season of Remembrance

September also marks the beginning of a season when many families begin reflecting on the lives of loved ones who have gone before us. As we approach Día de los Muertos, All Souls Day, and other opportunities for prayer and remembrance, many find comfort in spending time with family, sharing stories, and honoring cherished memories.

These observances remind us of the enduring bonds we share with those we love and the hope we find in Christ's promise of eternal life.

One of the greatest benefits of advance planning is peace of mind. Knowing that important decisions have been made allows families to focus on what truly matters: faith, family, and the relationships that enrich our lives.

Reflection on grief for funeral service professionals. Personal loss.

We Serve the Grieving, Yet We Grieve Too

People often assume that those of us who work in cemeteries, mortuaries, and funeral services are somehow insulated from grief. Because we accompany families through loss every day, many believe we have learned how to separate ourselves from the emotions that come with death.

The truth is that we don't.

We are trained professionals. We know the procedures, the rituals, the traditions, and the practical steps that follow a death. We know how to guide families through some of the hardest moments they will ever face.

But nothing prepares you for the sudden loss of someone you worked beside, laughed with, and shared part of your life with every day.

When a coworker dies unexpectedly, the experience is different from many other losses. There is no time to prepare. No opportunity for final conversations. No chance to say goodbye.

One day they're sitting in the office next to you, attending meetings, sharing ideas, and planning for the future.

          The next day, they're gone.

I remember the feeling of receiving that news. At first, it didn't seem real. There was a sense of disbelief, as though somehow there had been a mistake. The person who had been part of our daily routines, our conversations, and our mission was suddenly absent.

          The workplace felt different immediately.

          The empty office.

          The vacant chair.

          The unanswered extension.

The silence where there had once been robust discussion and boundless energy.

As funeral and cemetery professionals, we often help families navigate these realities. We speak about loss, healing, and remembrance. Yet when grief enters our own organization, we quickly discover that professional experience does not make us immune to sorrow.

In the days that followed, I found myself reflecting on how much of our lives are shared with our coworkers. We spend thousands of hours together. We solve problems together. We celebrate successes and endure challenges together. Over time, colleagues become more than coworkers. They become friends. They become part of our extended family.

The sudden loss of a coworker reminded me how fragile life truly is.

I remember walking through the cemetery during a quiet moment after learning of the loss. The grounds were as peaceful as they had always been. Families were visiting loved ones. Flowers moved gently in the breeze. Everything appeared unchanged.

          And yet everything felt different.

As I stood there, I thought about the countless projects we had conducted together and the families we had helped. I thought about the conversations we had shared, the plans we had made, and the work we believed in. Most of all, I reflected on how often we assume there will be another meeting, another phone call, another opportunity to express our gratitude.

          Sometimes there isn't.

That moment became deeply personal for me.

I realized that despite years spent helping others face loss, I was struggling with the same questions and emotions that so many families experience. There was sadness, certainly. But there was also gratitude. Gratitude for having known someone whose presence made a difference. Gratitude for the memories, the friendships, and the impact they had on so many lives.

Their death reminded me of something we often tell the families we serve:

A person's legacy is not measured by the day they leave us, but by the lives they touch while they are here. In our profession, we witness grief every day. We understand that loss is not simply about death. It is about relationships, shared experiences, and the love and respect that remain after someone is gone.

When a coworker dies, we mourn not only the person but also the moments that will never happen. The conversations we won't have. The projects we won't complete together. The retirement celebration we expected to attend years from now.

          Those losses are real.

          And they hurt.

Yet even amid that grief, there is comfort in remembering that the work we do is built on relationships. Every act of kindness, every word of encouragement, every moment of service matters because people matter.

The sudden loss of a coworker taught me that no amount of training can remove the pain of losing someone we care about. We are funeral professionals, cemetery professionals, counselors, administrators, and leaders.

But before any of those things, we are human.

          We grieve.

          We remember.

          We mourn.

And together, we honor those who helped shape our lives and our mission.

Because even in a profession surrounded by reminders of mortality, the loss of a friend and colleague is a powerful reminder that every day is a gift, every relationship is precious, and every life leaves a lasting imprint on the hearts of those left behind.

This reflection is dedicated to the memory of Douglas S. Farruggia, CEO of Catholic Cemeteries & Mortuaries. Doug was a respected leader, trusted colleague, and dear friend whose faith, compassion, and commitment to our mission touched countless lives.

As many members of our staff have shared, "Doug was more than our CEO. He cared about us as people, encouraged us in our work, and inspired us through his leadership, faith, and genuine kindness. His presence is deeply missed, but his example will continue to guide us."

Each year, communities across Southern California are blessed by the Annual Pilgrimage of the Images of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Saint Juan Diego, a cherished tradition that gathers the faithful in prayer, devotion, and celebration. As the sacred images journey from parish to parish and ministry to ministry, they bring people together in a living expression of faith, reminding us of Our Lady's message of hope, compassion, unity, and trust in God.

It is a profound honor to welcome these beloved images, which hold a special place in the hearts of countless families throughout our community. Through music, dance, prayer, and community gatherings, the story of Guadalupe continues to be passed from one generation to the next, preserving a rich spiritual and cultural legacy.

Serving in Love: CCM’s Ministry of Support and Community

CCM offers support for families in grief, including memorial Masses & bereavement resources. Find comfort in our community.

At Catholic Cemeteries & Mortuaries (CCM), our mission extends far beyond providing a sacred place of burial. Rooted in the Church’s call to accompany God’s people in every season of life, CCM’s Community Outreach Ministry is dedicated to walking with families before, during, and after the loss of a loved one—offering prayer, presence, and pastoral care grounded in faith and hope. Grief can feel isolating, but no one is meant to carry it alone.

Through Outreach, CCM seeks to be a visible sign of the Church’s compassion, reminding families that even in moments of sorrow, they remain held by a community of faith and by the promise of the Resurrection.

A Place of Prayer and Remembrance

One of the most meaningful expressions of this ministry is CCM’s Monthly Memorial Masses. Celebrated at our cemeteries and mortuaries—and offered both in person and via livestream—these Masses give families a sacred space to remember their loved ones, pray together, and find comfort in the Eucharist.

For many, the Monthly Memorial Mass becomes an important step in the healing journey. Intentions are lifted, and families are reminded that their loved ones are never forgotten. By offering livestream options, CCM ensures that even those who are homebound, traveling, or living at a distance can remain connected in prayer.

          Supporting the Church’s Bereavement Ministry

CCM’s commitment to accompaniment also reaches deeply into parish life through its support of the Ministry of Consolation, sometimes known as parish bereavement ministry. These ministries play a vital role in the Church’s response to grief—providing listening hearts, prayerful presence, and practical support to families at their most vulnerable moments.

Through Community Outreach, CCM provides formation, training, and ongoing support for Ministers of Consolation serving in parishes throughout the archdiocese. These men and women are prepared not only to understand the realities of grief but to serve with compassion, sensitivity, and faith. Their ministry ensures that families encountering loss are met with Christ’s love, expressed through the care of the parish community.

          Outreach Beyond the Cemetery

Community Outreach is also present well beyond Memorial Masses and bereavement training. The Outreach team partners closely with parishes, schools, and Archdiocesan offices to support a wide range of pastoral and educational efforts. These include parish presentations on Catholic funeral rites, participation in parish festivals and community events, catechetical moments tied to cultural traditions, and opportunities for prayer and remembrance throughout the liturgical year. Through these efforts, CCM helps families better understand the richness of Catholic funeral traditions and the hope they proclaim—removing uncertainty and fear by offering clarity, preparation, and reassurance rooted in faith.

A Ministry of Accompaniment and Hope

At its heart, Community Outreach reflects a simple but profound belief: cemeteries are not only places for the dead, but sacred spaces for the living. They are places where families return to pray, to remember, and to renew their trust in God’s promise of eternal life. By walking alongside families and parishes, CCM’s Outreach Ministry serves as a bridge—connecting pastoral care, liturgy, and community in a way that honors both the dignity of the deceased and the needs of those who grieve.

          An Invitation

Catholic Cemeteries & Mortuaries warmly invites families to take part in this ministry of prayer and remembrance. Whether by attending a Memorial Mass, submitting a prayer intention, participating in a parish presentation, or learning more about bereavement resources, families are always welcome.

Rooted in Faith, Shaped by Change: Burial Choices in California

Explore burial choices in CA, blending faith with modern practices. Find comfort and support in our community during your time of remembrance.

On a warm spring morning in Los Angeles, the Ramirez family gathered beneath the shade of old cypress trees at a cemetery that overlooked the city. The hum of traffic in the distance mixed softly with the quiet murmur of prayers. It was a day of remembrance—but also a reflection of something larger, something that quietly shaped many families across California.

Abuela Rosa had always said that how a person is laid to rest was as much about the living as it was about the departed. Her family understood this well. In California, people came from many cultures, carried many beliefs, and now, more than ever, made choices that blended tradition, practicality, and personal meaning.

For Rosa’s oldest son, Miguel, the choice had been clear—burial. “It’s what Mamá would have wanted,” he said gently, recalling the rosaries she prayed nightly and her devotion to the Church. In their tradition, a vigil had been held the evening before, filled with prayer, stories, and the comforting repetition of the rosary in both Spanish and English.

The funeral Mass that morning brought together generations: grandchildren who spoke mostly English, great-aunts who prayed only in Spanish, and neighbors from all walks of life. The ceremony was familiar, rooted in centuries-old Catholic rites, offering a sense of continuity and hope.

Yet standing nearby was Miguel’s sister Elena, who had quietly made a different decision for herself. She had already written her wishes down—cremation, followed by a celebration of life with family and friends in a place that held special meaning to her.
“It’s still respectful,” she had explained once. “Just… different.” Her children nodded. For their generation, this choice no longer felt unusual. Across California, cremation had become increasingly common, shaped by cost, flexibility, and changing cultural attitudes. The ability to plan memorials in a way that best honors a loved one’s life offered a sense of personal connection that resonated in a diverse and ever-evolving state.

As the service continued, the priest spoke gently about unity—not only in faith, but in love. Whether through burial in consecrated ground or through other forms of remembrance, what mattered most was dignity and prayer. The Ramirez family listened, each holding their own understanding of that truth.

After the Mass, the family remained together, sharing quiet moments of reflection. A mariachi trio, arranged by Rosa’s nieces, played softly—a blending of tradition and celebration that felt uniquely Californian. Flowers surrounded the family, bright colors standing against the green lawn, a symbol not only of grief but of life continuing.

In those moments, differences in preference faded. What remained was shared memory, shared love, and a deep sense of connection—to one another, to their faith, and to the generations that came before them.

Later that afternoon, the family gathered at a nearby home. Stories were told, laughter slowly returned, and conversations turned toward the future—not only about remembrance, but about preparation.

California, Elena reflected, was a place where traditions were honored, yet thoughtfully reimagined. Some families held firmly to burial, valuing sacred ground, ritual, and continuity. Others chose cremation, seeking simplicity and flexibility.

But in the end, every choice carried the same quiet intention: to honor a life, to comfort the living, and to hold onto the hope that love endures beyond farewell.

As the sun dipped low over Los Angeles, Miguel and Elena stood side by side, looking out toward the horizon.

Different paths, perhaps—but the same destination of remembrance.

          A Gentle Invitation

A Journey of Prayer, Remembrance, and Hope

When families gather to plan a funeral, they are often navigating unfamiliar ground—grief, decisions, and emotions all at once. In these moments, many ask a simple but important question

What happens at a Catholic funeral?

The answer is more than a sequence of events. It is a sacred journey—one rooted in faith, shaped by centuries of tradition, and centered on hope.

At Catholic Cemeteries & Mortuaries, this journey unfolds through three meaningful moments: the Vigil, the Funeral Mass, and the Rite of Committal. Together, they offer families not only structure but spiritual support in a time when it is most needed.

The Vigil: A Time to Remember

The funeral journey often begins with the Vigil, typically held the evening before the Funeral Mass.

This is a time for family and friends to gather, share memories, and pray together. Stories are told, tears are shed, and moments of laughter often find their way into the room—reminding us that a life well lived leaves a lasting imprint.

The Vigil allows space for personal reflection and communal support. It invites those who mourn to begin expressing their grief openly, surrounded by those who care.

In this first step, remembrance takes root.

The Funeral Mass: Entrusting a Loved One to God

At the heart of the Catholic funeral is the Funeral Mass—the central and most sacred moment of the journey.

Here, the Church gathers to do what it does best: to pray.

Through Scripture, music, and the Eucharist, the Funeral Mass proclaims a profound truth—that life does not end but is transformed. It is a moment of both farewell and faith, where the soul of the departed is entrusted to God’s mercy.

For families, the Mass offers something deeply needed: reassurance. In the midst of sorrow, they are reminded that their loved one’s story continues in the promise of eternal life.

It is not simply a ceremony—it is an encounter with hope.

The Rite of Committal: A Final Act of Love

The final step takes place at the place of rest—the cemetery.

During the Rite of Committal, family and friends gather one last time to commend their loved one to God. Prayers are offered, blessings are given, and the body is laid to rest with reverence and dignity.

This moment, though often the most difficult, carries a quiet sense of peace.

It is here that the Church affirms its care not only for the soul but for the body—honoring it as sacred, created by God, and destined for resurrection.

The Committal is not simply an ending; it is a sacred conclusion to a journey of prayer.

More Than a Process—A Ministry of Care

While these three moments form the structure of a Catholic funeral, their meaning is shaped by the care that surrounds them.

Families are guided gently through each step—offered clarity when things feel overwhelming, space when emotions are heavy, and compassion at every turn. Each detail, from prayers to the environment itself, is shaped by a commitment to dignity, faith, and reverence.

This is what makes a Catholic funeral different.

It is not simply about arrangements—it is about accompaniment. It is about walking with families through grief and helping them encounter the Church's healing presence.

          A Journey Rooted in Hope

In times of loss, families seek meaning. They seek reassurance that their loved one’s life mattered and that death is not the end of the story.

Catholic funeral rites respond to that need with something lasting: faith.

Through prayer, ritual, and community, families are reminded that love endures, that life continues, and that hope remains—even in the face of sorrow.

          An Invitation

Whether planning ahead or navigating an immediate loss, Catholic Cemeteries & Mortuaries stands ready to guide families through this sacred journey.

With compassion, clarity, and faith, we walk alongside those we serve—honoring every life entrusted to our care and proclaiming the enduring promise of the Resurrection.

A Work of Mercy: One Friend’s Journey to Honor a Sacred Wish

Honor a friend's sacred wish for a Catholic burial. Experience compassion & support in our community-focused cemetery services.

He was not family by blood, but by something quieter and more enduring. They had prayed together in the back pew on ordinary Sundays, shared coffee after Mass, and spoken, on more than one occasion, about the meaning of death—not with fear, but with faith. When his friend spoke of being laid to rest one day in Catholic ground, it was not said dramatically. It was said simply, as one states a truth already entrusted to God.

When death came, it came without ceremony. There was no plan neatly arranged, no signatures prepared in advance. What remained was a small urn, a silence heavy with unanswered questions, and a promise remembered by someone who had listened.
Honoring that promise proved harder than he ever expected.

He wrote letters. He made calls. Family members remained distant—unreachable, unresponsive, or perhaps simply overwhelmed by grief in their own way. The resting place where the man’s mother was buried could not proceed without their consent, and rightly so. The friend understood this. He wasn’t seeking authority or ownership. He wasn’t trying to decide what wasn’t his to decide. He was only trying to ensure that the one entrusted to him would not be forgotten, scattered, or left without the dignity of prayer and consecrated ground.

What sustained him was the conviction that this effort mattered, even if it led nowhere visible. He spoke with the Catholic cemetery. He asked questions carefully, humbly. He listened as state laws were explained—rules meant not to obstruct mercy, but to protect it. He learned that even the deepest compassion must sometimes wait on proper authority. And still, the response he received did not leave him empty-handed.
Instead, it gave him something quieter: affirmation.

He was thanked—not perfunctorily, but sincerely—for his faithfulness. He was reminded that to seek a Catholic burial for the dead is itself a work of mercy. That even when circumstances prevent immediate resolution, the intention to honor a soul according to its faith is not lost in God’s sight. He was encouraged to persevere, to pray, to remain open to reconciliation and conversation, and to trust that his efforts had already borne spiritual fruit.

In time, he began to visit the cemetery anyway. He would walk slowly among the headstones, pausing at the sound of wind through the trees, praying for his friend by name. He imagined a future day—still unknown—when the remains might finally rest there, beneath a simple marker, accompanied by the prayers of the Church. Until then, he placed his hope where it had always belonged: not in documents or permissions alone, but in God’s justice and mercy.

Some promises are not fulfilled quickly. Some acts of love are hidden, incomplete, or interrupted. But faith teaches that none are wasted.

And so he continues—holding the urn carefully, praying faithfully, waiting patiently—trusting that the God who remembers every sparrow would not forget the desire of one faithful soul, nor the compassion of the friend who refused to abandon it.

If you or someone you love has expressed a desire for Catholic burial—and questions or uncertainties remain—know that you do not have to navigate them alone. We invite you to reach out, ask questions, and begin the conversation early. Whether you are planning ahead or seeking guidance in a moment of loss, the Church stands ready to accompany you with compassion, clarity, and prayer. Honoring a loved one’s final wishes is a sacred act of faith—and it is never too early, or too late, to take the first faithful step.

Under a cool and sunny sky with views of the Pacific Ocean, Long Beach’s St. Anthony High School, a 106-year-old historic Catholic college preparatory institution, hosted its 17th annual Saint 5k Run early Saturday morning, March 14, 2026.

This is the school’s largest community event, which generates funds for tuition assistance, where 100% of the proceeds from the 5K benefit students and families who need it most.

Walking Together Through Holy Week at Our Mother Church

Join us for Holy Week at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. Attend Masses & livestream options. Reflect on faith with your family.

As we approach Holy Week, we invite our families to reflect on this sacred time in the Church year. Holy Week commemorates pivotal moments in Jesus’ life—His entrance into Jerusalem, His love and service, His sacrifice on the Cross, and the joy of His Resurrection.

Throughout Holy Week, special Masses and liturgies will be celebrated at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, the mother church of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. This Cathedral is called our mother church because it serves as the spiritual home of the archbishop and a place where Catholics from every parish come together as one family of faith. Even when we worship at our local parishes, the Cathedral reminds us that we are part of the larger Church across the Archdiocese.

Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday on April 13, when we remember Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, with people waving palm branches and shouting “Hosanna!” Palm Sunday Masses at the Cathedral will be celebrated at 7:30 AM and 10:00 AM in English, and at 12:30 PM in Spanish. The 10:00 AM English and 12:30 PM Spanish Masses will be livestreamed for families who wish to participate from home.

On Monday, April 14, at 7:00 PM, the Chrism Mass will take place. This special Mass brings together priests from across the archdiocese, and the holy oils used in baptisms, confirmations, and anointings throughout the year will be blessed—many of which touch the lives of our families.

The Mass of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated on Thursday, April 17, at 7:00 PM in both English and Spanish, reminding us of the Last Supper and Jesus’ call to love and serve one another. Good Friday, April 18, invites quiet reflection on Jesus’ sacrifice, with services at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM in English, and at 7:00 PM in Spanish. The 12:00 PM English service will be livestreamed.

Holy Week reaches its joyful peak with the Easter Vigil on Saturday, April 19, at 8:00 PM, celebrated in both English and Spanish, followed by Easter Sunday on April 20. We hear the joyful news: Jesus is risen! Masses will be held at 7:30 AM and 10:00 AM in English, and at 12:30 PM in Spanish. The 10:00 AM English and 12:30 PM Spanish Easter Masses will also be livestreamed.

In addition to the Cathedral celebrations, Holy Week and Easter Masses will also be celebrated at local parishes throughout the archdiocese. Families are encouraged to attend Mass close to home whenever possible.

As a community, we encourage families to take time during Holy Week to pray together, attend Mass, and discuss with children Jesus’ love, sacrifice, and new life. Whether gathered at the Cathedral, at a local parish, or participating from home through the livestream, we remain united in our faith and with our mother church.

Catholic Cemeteries and Mortuaries were honored to stand in solidarity once again with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles at OneLife LA, the annual celebration dedicated to promoting the beauty and dignity of every human life. Established to transform the painful anniversary of Roe v. Wade on January 22, 1973, OneLife LA brings hope, healing, and a renewed call to love.

This year’s gathering drew more than 5,000 participants who filled the streets around the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. The program was emceed by Father Matt Wheeler, pastor of Our Savior Church and the USC Caruso Catholic Center, and by Daniela Verástegui, and featured inspiring speakers, including

Archbishop José H. Gomez reminded the crowd of the heart behind OneLife, saying, “OneLife LA has never been about politics. We are a religious movement, a stirring of the heart and conscience. A movement of the Spirit. OneLife is the dream of a city of love where every human life is sacred, where every person is cherished, welcomed, and cared for. And we mean every human life—no matter their background, condition, or story.”

Catholic Cemeteries and Mortuaries were proud to partner once again with the Office of Life, Justice and Peace and the Office for Vocations to support this mission of compassion and hope. As a ministry dedicated to honoring life’s journey from beginning to end, we value this partnership as a reflection of our deep commitment to upholding the dignity of every person.

The day concluded with the moving Requiem Mass for the Unborn inside the cathedral. In a profound annual tradition, the lights were dimmed as worshippers processed forward carrying hundreds of white candles—each representing a child lost to abortion that very day in the greater Los Angeles area. The soft glow of candlelight illuminated the altar, a silent but powerful reminder of the lives remembered and the prayers lifted for healing and renewal.

Catholic Cemeteries and Mortuaries remain dedicated to walking with families, parishes, and the wider community as we collectively build a culture where every life is valued, protected, and loved.

The holiday season is often described as a time of joy, family gatherings, and celebrations. Yet for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one, this time of year can feel overwhelming and lonely. The empty chair at the table, the traditions that now feel incomplete, and the memories that surface can make grief especially heavy during Christmas and the New Year.

If you are walking through this season with a grieving heart, know that you are not alone. Your Catholic faith offers a source of comfort and strength, reminding us that Christ came into the world to bring light into darkness and hope into sorrow. Through prayer, the sacraments, and the support of your parish community, healing is possible—even in the midst of pain.

           Give Yourself Permission to Grieve

It’s okay to feel sadness during a season that emphasizes joy. Allow yourself to experience your emotions without guilt.

Honor your loved one by lighting a candle, saying a prayer, or sharing a favorite memory during holiday gatherings.
Connect with your parish’s Bereavement Ministry or Ministry of Consolation. Sharing your journey with others can bring comfort and healing.

           Focus on Faith

Attend Mass, pray the Rosary, or spend time in Eucharistic Adoration. These moments of grace can help restore peace to your heart.

Rest, eat well, and allow time for quiet reflection. Grief is exhausting—be gentle with yourself.

Heavenly Father, In this season of joy, we bring before You hearts that are heavy with loss. Comfort those who mourn with Your tender mercy. Surround them with Your love and grant them peace that surpasses all understanding. May the light of Christ shine in their darkness and remind them of the hope of eternal life. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
