The 2025 Día de los Muertos Mass was celebrated by Archbishop José Gomez at San Fernando Mission Cemetery on November 1, the Feast of All Saints. Hundreds of families gathered alongside community members from across the San Fernando Valley to honor their departed loved ones.
The full service includes the Blessing of the Altars, the Liturgy of the Eucharist, and a closing procession. The cultural celebration that followed — with Mariachi performance, folkloric dancers, and children's activities — is archived separately below.

All Souls Day Mass · broadcast on EWTN
Broadcast nationally on EWTN Catholic Global Network, the 2024 All Souls Day Mass at Santa Clara Cemetery & Mortuary in Oxnard was celebrated by Archbishop José Gomez.
The Mass marked one of the largest gatherings in the Oxnard cemetery's history, with families from across Ventura County participating in person and tens of thousands joining through the EWTN broadcast.

Día de los Muertos Livestream · with Mariachi performance
The 2023 Día de los Muertos celebration at San Fernando Mission Cemetery was livestreamed in full — including Mass, Blessing of the Altars, the cultural celebration, and a full Mariachi performance with folkloric dancers.
Held jointly with Mission Hills Catholic Mortuary, the day brought together more than two thousand families across the San Fernando Valley.

Prayer Vigil
A quiet evening prayer vigil held at San Fernando Mission Cemetery on the eve of All Souls Day, with hundreds of candles lit in remembrance of the faithful departed.
This year's celebration took a more contemplative form — focused on prayer, reflection, and silence — with families invited to bring photographs of their loved ones to be placed at a community altar.

Vigil Service
The 2021 Vigil Service at Calvary Cemetery in East Los Angeles drew families gradually returning to in-person celebration after the pandemic years.
Candles were lit at the central memorial cross, and parishioners read aloud the names of loved ones lost — many from the COVID-19 pandemic — in a service of remembrance and quiet hope.

Virtual Vigil during the pandemic
The 2020 Vigil Service was held virtually as Los Angeles County remained under pandemic restrictions. Families joined from home as a single candle was lit at Calvary Cemetery — one flame standing in for the thousands who could not gather in person.
Despite the distance, the service drew the largest virtual audience in our history, as the pandemic made the need to remember the dead more urgent than ever. The names of those lost to COVID-19 were read in their entirety.
