A Rich History of Formation and Renewal

The Los Angeles Religious Education Congress (RECongress) is one of the most significant Catholic gatherings in the United States, drawing thousands of faithful from across the nation and around the globe. Sponsored by the Office of Religious Education of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, this four-day event is a vibrant celebration of faith, learning, and fellowship.

The Congress began in 1956 as an “Institute” of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) and evolved into its current format in 1967. By 1970, it found its home at the Anaheim Convention Center, where it continues to inspire generations. Over the decades, RECongress has grown into the largest annual Catholic gathering in the U.S., offering workshops, liturgies, keynote addresses, and exhibits that deepen understanding of the Catholic faith and encourage personal spiritual growth. This year’s theme, “Wrapped in Mercy, Hope Renewed”, reflects the event’s enduring mission: to renew hearts and minds in God’s love and mercy.

This year’s celebration honors 70 years of commitment to evangelization, education, and renewal, making RECongress not just an event, but a living tradition of faith.

Catholic Cemeteries & Mortuaries: A Ministry of Presence

For many years, Catholic Cemeteries & Mortuaries (CC&M) has proudly participated in RECongress, embracing the opportunity to connect with the faithful and share the sacred mission of providing consecrated grounds for burial and memorial services. Our presence in the Exhibit Hall offers attendees a welcoming space to learn about faith-based end-of-life planning, burial options, and the Church’s teaching on the hope of the Resurrection.
